Welcome to l'Auberge de la fosse Arthour

Once upon a time…

An ‘auberge’ which wasn’t one at the beginning. It is the story of some passenger who came for a little walk on Sunday afternoon, a story of a «come take a coffee! », of some pancakes just in case and an accordion air play in front of a little woodshed.

Bought in 1974 from Mister Castagnet by Guy and Martine Lesellier, the stone auberge  start to be build. Who isn’t came for a baptism, a communion or a wedding, his wedding!,some renion or just to share a good family dinner in a convivial and warmth ambiance, and who some times was ending in a dancing night with Guy and Martine orchestra. Forty years ago!

After some years closed, I wanted to make it reborn. Born in Saint Georges de Rouelley, I lived all this good moments. To be honest, I thought about it from years ago. After some months of building, updating to standards, and of a period of confinement, I finally open the 11th of June 2020. I have my heart set on make it reborn those nostalgic moments! We remember the pedalos, the horse walk or the rock fest with some stars of the eighties (Martin Circus, Gérard Lenormand, Carlos, Rika Zaraï, Enrico Macias, …)

Open every day from 9am in the summer, I propose a bistronomic cuisine made of fresh and local products, dishes that we do not necessarily eat at home, a daily menu the midis of the week in a soothing and warm (it is not me who says it), served by a smiling and welcoming team. In the afternoon, the hostel remains open for a refreshing or gourmet break (pancakes, waffles, ice creams, etc.)

I would be delighted to tell you the legend of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere or to guide you on hikes or to provide you with any information on this classified site.

From our hiking friends, I can fill the canteens with fresh water.

I’ll see you soon.

Discover the site

Located on the border of the departments of Orne and Manche, the Fosse Arthour is an exceptionally rich natural and cultural site.

Between the geological fault called "cluse" and the top of the sandstone crests, wetlands and dry heaths are found side by side.

The wild and mysterious character of the place is conducive to legends… The most famous claims that King Arthur stayed there in a cave called "the king’s room".
